Directions To Certain Events

YARDS CREEK SCOUT RESERVATION
1.  Take Route 31 North to its termination at a traffic light in Buttzville
2.  At the Buttzville traffic light turn left onto U.S.
Route 46 West and follow it west to Columbia, mc
3.  At the interchange in Columbia pick up mc
Route 94 East.  This can be a confusing interchange as U.S. 46, I80, NJ94 and local traffic all come together here.  If you follow the signs to Blairstown you can’t go wrong.
4.  Follow mc 94 Northeast for about 5 miles.  You will pass through Hainesburg.  
Watch for a John Deere dealer on the left just before the Walnut Valley Road intersection, and a Dairy Queen just beyond the intersection.
5.  At the Walnut Valley intersection you will see a large sign directing you to the Yard’s Creek Pumped Storage Generating Station.  Under the large sign is a relatively small sign pointing to
Yard’s Creek Scout Reservation. Turn left onto Walnut Valley Road.
6.  Proceed uphill on Walnut Valley Road.  At the Yard’s Creek Power Station entrance, Mt. Vernon breaks off to the right.  You will bear left and stop at the Power Station guard shack.
7. Usually there will be a guard on duty who will admit you after you explain that you are going to the Boy Scout
Camp.
8. You will encounter three forks in the road before you reach camp.
•        At the first fork, stay to the right (the Visitor’s Center for the Power Station is on the left).
•        At the second fork, stay to the left (the generator building is on the right)
•        The camp entrance is to the right at the third fork, just after you drive over the enormous green water supply
pipes that come from the upper reservoir on the left.   The camp entrance is clearly marked.
9. The road passes a helipad on the right and then goes through a gate.  Continue; the road surface will change from blacktop to dirt, and the road will soon turn right, pass the Scout Camp Ranger’s cabin (on a rise on the left), then eventually curve to the left.  Just beyond this curve is a fork in the road.  Take the left fork to the camp parking lot.


KITTATINNY MOUNTAIN SCOUT RESERVATION (KMSR)


1.  Take
Route 31 North until you reach the Asbury Anderson Road  (past Hampton, landmark for Asbury
Anderson Road is A&P on left)
2.  Turn right onto
Asbury Anderson Road.  Follow this road until you come to the stop sign in the village of Anderson.
3.  Bear right onto
Route 57 East
4.  Follow Route 57 East until you reach Route 517 North
5. Take
Route 517 North until you reach Route 206 North
6.  Continue on
Route 206 North into the Branchville area.
7. Approximately 4 miles north of Branchville on Route 206
look for Stokes State Forest on the right side of the road. (Mile Marker 121)
8. On the left, approximately ¼ mile past the Stokes State Forest Entrance will be the sign for Kittatinny Mountain Scout Reservation (KMSR)
9. Turn left onto
Struble Road
10. Go approximately ¼ mile and turn left into the KMSR parking lot.

Landmarks:
You have NOT reached KMSR if you have not passed: Yetters Diner, Skylands Baseball Park, Dale's Market, Culver Lake, Stokes Forest Sign. You have PASSED KMSR if you went by Struble Rd on Rte 206, reached Flatbrook Rd on Rte 206 or the signs for the town of Layton.
 

VOORHEES STATE PARK

Take Rt. 31 north to 513 North (High Bridge). Follow 513 through the Town of High Bridge going towards Vorhees Park. After going through the town going up the hill look for the entrance to the park's observatory. Make a left, go up the hill and look on the right for the Family and group camping.
 

OCKANICKON SCOUT CAMP

Take Rt.12 from Kingwood to Frenchtown.  Make a left at the blinking light and go over the bridge.  Once over the bridge make a left.  Follow this road until Point Pleasant.  You will go over a concrete bridge and come to a junction where you can go left or straight. Make the right and take the steep road with the small sign that says Stover State Park and Ockanickon. Go up the hill and travel approx. 1 mile until you see State Road on your right. There may also be a sign for the State Park or Ockanickon. Make a RIGHT and proceed for approximately 1/4 mile. There will be a parking lot on the left and the camp road is on the right. Walk approx. 200 ft. down the road to the camp office in the middle building. Camp office phone # 215-297-5290
 

ECHO HILL CAMP AREA

From the Church make a right and take 519 to where it meets with 513.  Make a right and head toward Pittstown.  Make a left in Pittstown and head toward Clinton.  Get onto 78 and stay on 78 until you see signs for the 31 south exit.  Get off here.  Go down 31 until you see signs for echo hill.  Make a right onto the road.  Then make a right onto the road right before the train tracks.  Go about a mile down the road and echo hill will be on your right.
 

TREASURE ISLAND

Take Rt.12 from Kingwood to Frenchtown.  Make a left at the blinking light and go over the bridge.  Once over the bridge make a left.  Follow this road.  You will go over a one lane bridge and Treasure Island will be a mile down the road.  Parking on right and the boat will be on the left.  There will be a dock with a large sign for Treasure Island.
