2007 - River
Fest in Frenchtown, NJ

Frenchtown's Annual River Fest Weekend
Sept 1-3, 2007 - Labor Day Weekend
The theme is Go Green for Frenchtown's third annual celebration of life
along the Delaware River, with emphasis on the environment,
conservation and preservation. In addition to a half-dozen local
not-for-profit organizations, the Frenchtown Business and Professional
Association (FBPA) has invited local manufacturers and vendors of green
products, as well as providers of green services, to demonstrate
products and answer questions.
The event kicks off Friday night at 6:30 with a
wine tasting fundraiser
for the Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance (HLTA). Tickets are $25 each and
available in advance from HLTA in Flemington or that day at the tent
entrance. Music on Saturday and Sunday will be provided by Blue Number
9, back by popular demand - and on Sunday the
Gospel choir will again
perform.
Among the popular events that will be part of RiverFest/Go Green
is the
Pet Show on Saturday afternoon. The theme this year is Recycled
Couture. To enter your pet, contact Cleo Sharplin at Alchemy, (908)
996-9000.
For real couture, there will be a fashion show on Sunday.
The "Fourth Annual River Moon Film Festival" in Frenchtown will feature
award-winning independent films. The film festival will be held
Saturday and Sunday. For information, go to riverunionstage.org. Among the
special films shown this year will be the French film Lafayette (1961),
dubbed in English, and starring Orson Welles as Benjamin Franklin.
Nearly two dozen juried arts and crafts vendors will be
returning to
the festival throughout the weekend. Shops in Frenchtown will be
featuring green products and restaurants throughout town will feature
organic foods.
Drawings of the much anticipated Frenchtown River Park will be on
display and drawings of other Frenchtown developments can be see in the
Bridge Street office of Coldwell-Banker, a festival sponsor.
Most festival activities will take place beginning each day at 11a.m.
in the tented lot next to the Frenchtown Inn on Bridge Street or in the
TD Banknorth parking lot (at noon on Saturday). Parking signs will
guide visitors to regular lots and to special lots at local churches
and at the Frenchtown Park at the northern edge of town.
