Dogs on The Delaware

Welcome to Frenchtown…Bienvenue!
Cleo Sharplin, President FBPA

The Delaware River Bridge at Frenchtown - Frenchtonwn "Motif #1"On behalf of the FBPA, I welcome you to our great Victorian village on the Delaware River, the best kept secret in NJ.  We boast great dining opportunities, terrific B and B's, and an amazing assortment of quality shops featuring upscale gifts, causal and dressy attire, home décor with everything from antiques to contemporary.  What's more, Frenchtown is a charming and scenic place to visit, walk or bike our canal paths, spend a day in one of our spas, and perhaps catch a play with our River Union Stage.

We host three big festivals a year: for 2007 the Wine and Art Weekend (May 5-6), Bastille Weekend (July 14-15) and RiverFest (Sept 1-3).  The latter features our annual independent film festival and an array of "green" initiatives.  And if you are looking for a terrific place to open your own boutique or professional space, talk to us.  We think you will love it here.

Some new development projects are making Frenchtown an even more exciting place to be…the new River Mills project by George Michael will feature important new condominiums near the river with store fronts near the bridge; a new riverside park is in the planning stages, and a new Victorian mixed-use building site is under review for the eastern edge of town.

And visiting us is just the start.  If you are seeking a great community to live in, give us a look…terrific schools, active churches, committed local organizations and terrific homes.  Among our members are real estate companies that can help you find the perfect place.

Merci
Cleo Sharplin, President FBPA and owner of Alchemy.

Bridge Street, Frenchtown, NJFrenchtown is  the kind of place people go looking for when they take to the byways and the “scenic routes” dotted in green on the highway maps. It comes as a surprise and delight to those who find it by chance. This is a town to be enjoyed at length, a place where curiosity is rewarded by an array of things to see and do

This gem on New Jersey's western shore is only minutes from Clinton, Flemington & Lambertville, in New Jersey and from  New Hope, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Frenchtown can be reached via a variety of traffic-free and scenic routes through beautiful Hunterdon County, NJ and Bucks County,PA.

Here on the east bank of the Delaware River is a place which many have never seen, the kind of place most believe has all but vanished.

The Bridge across the Delaware at Frenchtown

Frenchtown is an authentic relic of the American past; a small town of clapboard
and columns and shady porches tucked between brooding brown cliffs and
a sweep of the rippling Delaware River.

Exotic Cars Garage Frenchtown, NJ"Perhaps luckily for Frenchtown, it avoided the 'modernization' and rapid expansion of the tourist industry ...
Within a five minute walk are bed-and-breakfast inns, several acclaimed restaurants ... as well as 30 shops that specialize in ... art, antiques, gifts, collectibles, crafts"

springtime plum tree in Frenchtown "Happy Summer!"

Come on down, the weather is fine. It may be a bit warm on some days, but if it is, just head down to the river and enjoy the cool shade and breezes along the river bank.

Take a walk along The Riverside Trail sometimes (mistakenly) referred to as the "Tow Path". (It's actually the old railroad bed.)

~ Or stroll  along The River itself, or past the shops in town. If it starts to rain, just head inside for a cuppa java or tea or that desert you saw in the window... There are many choices along the streets of Frenchtown.

Summer has arrived with Days of Sun and Seventies  ~~~~~~   Enjoy it in Frenchtown.

Be sure to stop in for Coffee, Ice Cream or some tasty desserts at any of the cafes, and plan on sitting down to a very satisfying meal at any of our first-rate restaurants.  Come early for breakfast, linger over lunch and/or finish your day with a delectable dinner...

Don't miss the window-shopping along Bridge, Race & Harrison Streets - and be sure to venture down Trenton Avenue and Front Street for more of the same. And of course, do go inside and find something to bring home with you after your visit to our charming little village...

Yes, summer has arrived in Frenchtown and everyone who's here is enjoying it - and you can, too!
